MY NAME IS MAX.
I am an independent artist and animator on social media. However, here at The Art Loft, I am a humble instructor for beginner artists of all ages and backgrounds.
I still have a lot to learn myself, but I won't let that stop me from helping wherever I can.

A Different Picture
You begin to see the world in a whole different light and it can be beautiful and complex. In a sense, reality and the way you picture the world can be whatever you want it to be.
Ever since I was a kid, I have always found comfort in and had a fascination with cartoons.
One day I had gotten curious as to if I could learn to draw from the internet and upon googling it, I found myself following a step-by-step picture tutorial and produced one of my first actual drawings.
To this day it’s a pretty good beginner drawing on a piece of tattered old dollar store sketch paper.
Ever since then though, I had set my mind to become an artist and animator. I’d look everywhere for resources that would teach and mold me into the artist I am today.
Without all those websites, videos, and books, I might have never been able to improve over the years enough to do what I do now.
Trying to learn how to draw cartoon characters was not a fast or easy feat though. I spent years and countless hours drawing over and over and learning whatever I could by myself and it for sure was something I dedicated my all to. It definitely paid off and I am now a character artist and beginner/intermediate independent animator. However, I had thought about if it was possible to save aspiring artists some time by teaching what I found to be the most helpful tips and tools in my own improvement of art.
If I’ve learned anything it’s that learning everything by yourself is not only hard, but also a very long and slow process.
That is why I created The Art Loft. Many people think it's not possible to suddenly start learning how to draw because of either their age, the growing competition out there, and the common misconception that artistic ability is a gift or talent bestowed upon random people; but I say it is definitely possible no matter when you start. All it takes is a bit of guidance and dedication!
Learning to draw cartoon characters has been a complete life changer.
I have a vast imagination and need for that to be put into visual reality. Since I can draw, I like to draw my favorite characters for fun, draw myself or others, animate what I imagine when I listen to a song, and just create my own little world anytime I please.
These skills not only help me get creative, but also help me process difficult emotions and thoughts which is sometimes a type of therapy I need.
Knowing how to draw cartoon characters is also a very popular and desired skill. There are tons of people out there who want others to draw characters or make cartoons for them! Whether it be a personal requested drawing or a whole community supporting the creation of an animated series or fanart.
All in all knowing how to draw cartoon characters can benefit your life or even career as much as you’d like it to.
When my brother was younger and wanted to get into drawing, he first came to me for help.
I didn’t teach him everything he knows, but I remember telling him how to start and what resources to look at if he wanted to learn more by himself.
With just that little bit of advice from me as a more experienced artist, my brother improved rapidly and eventually sold more art than me. He draws anthropomorphic animals and has a huge following of people who pay him to draw their characters.
Because of this built up skill, he never really felt the need to get a part time job during highschool in order to buy things he wanted or go out to do things with his own money. He made a decent enough amount just from taking about a year to learn to draw characters.
He was dedicated and took guidance he received from myself and many others out there on the internet and ran with it!
When I think back on my journey of learning character art, I realize there were many times just a little bit of teacher like help or guidance would have greatly helped and saved me a lot of time.
I started The Art Loft to create a helpful and engaging course that will get to the point and teach character art in an in debt and efficient way for aspiring artists so that they can use those skills for their own personal benefits.
